Job Description

The Vermont Ski Areas Association/Ski Vermont is a statewide trade association with a mission of fostering a positive environment in which the ski industry can operate and thrive. The Marketing and Partnerships Manager promotes the Ski Vermont brand locally, regionally, and nationally by working collaboratively with other team members, member ski areas, marketing partners, state agencies and other statewide partners.

This is a salaried full-time, year-round position located out of our office in Montpelier, VT.

Responsibilities:

  1. Create and execute annual promotional, social media, email, and web content plan to achieve goals and maximum positive brand exposure in support of overall Ski Vermont objectives.
  2. Work collaboratively with Ski Vermont team, member Marketing/PR representatives, and partners to execute plan.
  3. Manage and measure social media channel engagement for maximum exposure and growth.
  4. Manage annual marketing budget to maximize resources and achieve goals.
  5. Build and maintain strong relationships with marketing partners and manage deliverables. Cultivate new partnerships.
  6. Grow and manage associate memberships.

The Marketing and Partnerships Manager works with the president on creation and execution of a promotional plan to create maximum exposure for Vermont as a ski tourism destination, with emphasis on extending the reach of and minimizing redundancy with our member ski areas, increasing program sales (ex. Fifth Grade Passport) and building our consumer database. Responsibilities also include managing and growing the association’s diverse marketing partnerships for mutual benefit and managing the marketing budget to maximize resources. Promotion and management of associate memberships to create category growth.

Member and Stakeholder Relations:

Member Relations – Establish positive working relationships with member area marketing, PR, events, and other staff. Plan and participate in marketing/PR meetings to review past efforts, plan, and collaborate on future efforts. Generate periodic reports on marketing, events, promotional efforts.

Cross Country Membership & Reciprocal Program – Manage cross country membership and reciprocal access program. Execute marketing initiatives in support of the cross-country members.

Marketing Partners – Works with the president to maintain and grow our marketing partnerships and acts as the point person for all partnership projects. Leverage partnerships to further tourism in Vermont and build the Vermont brand. Coordinate with other staff on deliverables.

Associate Membership – Promotion of associate membership category to industry vendors, lodging properties and other businesses. Manage associate membership benefits.

Digital Marketing, Social Media, and Communications Support:

Web and Social Media Content – Work collaboratively with the Director of Communications to create a content plan, gather information from members. Manage web and social media content, posts, updates, and promotions to drive engagement. Manage Instagram photographers for balanced member coverage. Assist members with posting content and updating information as necessary. Merchandise posters and apparel on SkiVermont.com to promote online sales.

Advertising – Create and manage a top of the funnel digital advertising plan to drive traffic to skivermont.com that minimizes competition with member initiatives. Plan should include social media as a channel and support and promote VSAA’s program sales.

Email Marketing – Manage and execute plan to drive engagement and grow email database through social media, events, and partnerships. Create and send regular email newsletter including promotions, events, contests, deals, online content, and conditions during the winter season and monthly during summer/fall.

Graphics – Execute basic design projects using Adobe Illustrator.

Communications Support – Assist Director of Communications with information collection for media initiatives and to develop balanced website content. Support media event preparation and execution. Work with Director of Communications to maintain photo and video asset library.

Snow Reporting – Set up and oversee automated daily snow reporting during the winter season. Execute snow alert emails as dictated by weather and conditions.

Special Events and Program Support:

Special Events – Support/staff marketing activations at select destinations throughout the year with attendance and on-site promotions, collaborating with members and partners. Support shows and media events. Collaborate with the Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing (VDTM) on special events, shows, sales missions and other opportunities.

Specialty Food Tour – Plan, execute and staff specialty food day stops at Vermont member areas. Recruit and organize specialty food vendors, plan logistics with member hosts and participating vendors to execute smooth events.

Annual Meeting -- Assist with Annual Meeting preparation, set up and hosting.

Collateral – Assess collateral needs to support overall brand exposure, program sales and other initiatives. Manage inventory.

Product/Programs Support, Fulfillment and General Inquiries – Answer general email and phone inquiries from the public. Support Office and Programs Manager with customer support for programs, poster orders processing, and fulfillment.

Shared office responsibilities: event attendance and general office staffing. Being a flexible, positive, and considerate team member and helping others when needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of marketing and social media experience is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office products, Adobe Illustrator.
  • Ability to work both individually and collaboratively on a team and with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in generating positive social media engagement and results.
  • Ability to develop web content, coordinate with vendors.
  • Knowledge of ski industry, tourism industry and Vermont preferred.
  • This position requires the ability to travel, both in and out of state, and flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as events and travel require.
  • The ability to ski or snowboard at minimum of advanced intermediate level is required.
