Stowe Mountain Resort's Cross Country Center sits off Route 108, about a mile from the alpine slopes, and operates as its own distinct destination. The trail network covers 45 kilometers of groomed trails and 30 kilometers of backcountry terrain, with the easiest and most scenic routes following the West Branch of the Little River up into the Ranch Camp valley, where some of the earliest backcountry trails in the area were cut by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. Several of those original trails, including The Steeple and The Bruce, remain popular with backcountry skiers today.
The groomed trail system connects to the Trapp Family Lodge trail network, though a separate trail pass is required for access. Trail passes for the Cross Country Center are not included with the Epic Pass. Rentals are available at the welcome yurt, covering classic, skate, and backcountry skis, snowshoes, and children's gear, and should be reserved in advance by calling ahead.
