Mount Snow is Vermont's closest major resort to people living in and around most of the Northeast's bustling metro areas, making for a short drive to real, big-mountain skiing.
Founded in 1954 by National Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame member, Walter Schoenknecht, Mount Snow quickly became one of the most recognizable ski resorts in the world. Snow has seen many upgrades in the past few years, such as the installation of more than 250 high output fan guns, the most of any resort in North America, and the addition of 645 new low-energy snow guns in 2014. In 2017, Mount Snow added a 120 million gallon snowmaking pond, West Lake, which drastically improved snowmaking capacity, overall creating the most powerful snowmaking system in the Northeast. Mount Snow is also home to the Bluebird Express - the first six passenger bubble lift in the East, and in 2022, introduced two new lifts: the 6-passenger Sundance Express and the 4-passenger Sunbrook Express.
Stay slopeside at Mount Snow's premier lodging property - the Grand Summit Resort Hotel and Conference Center. The hotel houses 197 guest rooms of varying size and is loaded with amenities including a spa, health club, outdoor heated pool, outdoor jacuzzi, dining, retail, complimentary valet and more. Condo units ranging in size from 1-to-4 bedrooms are also available. Vacationers can also stay in a number of established B&Bs, inns and hotels throughout the Mount Snow Valley.
The fun doesn't stop when the snow melts - summer activities include the 18-hole course at Mount Snow Golf Club, Downhill Mountain Biking, Hiking, Scenic Chairlift Rides, Outdoor Exploration Camp, and Naturespa, making Mount Snow a perfect summer vacation destination.
Mount Snow also offers a variety of exciting events and festivals year-round, including the annual Reggaefest held in March, which features top reggae bands playing on stage right in the base area, along with a Sink or Skim pond skim competition on Saturday and a Duct Tape Derby on Sunday. Visitors also won’t want to miss the Brewer’s Festival and Oktoberfest festivals in the fall, which feature dozens of breweries along with food trucks and live bands. Terrain park pros will love to hit Carinthia for the Junkyard Rail Jams under the lights, and athletes from across the region compete in the annual Carinthia Classic rail jam held in March each year.
