Catamount Outdoor Family Center has been welcoming outdoor enthusiasts to its 400-acre property in Williston since 1978, when it opened as a cross-country ski center. Since then, the trail network has grown to roughly 25 miles of terrain supporting Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, fat biking, mountain biking, hiking, and trail running across all four seasons.
Catamount has operated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit since 2005, with a focus on keeping the property accessible for all ages and abilities. Year-round programming includes weekly races, summer camps, clinics & lessons, MTB clubs, snowschool, and a full calendar of recreational and educational events.
In 2019, Catamount partnered with the Town of Williston and local volunteers and stakeholders to permanently protect 393 acres of forest, fields, and wetlands as the Catamount Community Forest, now managed jointly with the town. The conservation effort secured long-term public access to the trails while protecting water resources and wildlife habitat.
