Magic Mountain has been drawing skiers and riders to southern Vermont since the 1960s, and the terrain is still the main reason to make the trip. The expert trails and off-piste glades are legitimately challenging, cut in the original style with real steeps, natural obstacles, and no smoothing over of what the mountain actually is. Trails cover all ability levels, but Magic has a particular pull for skiers and riders who want to work for their runs.
The community that's built up around the mountain is just as much a part of it. Volunteers help clear trails and build new glades. Regulars gather at the Black Line Tavern to recap the day. New people show up and become part of it quickly. It's the kind of place that's hard to manufacture and easy to recognize when you find it.
That combination of serious terrain and unpretentious atmosphere is what sets Magic apart from larger, more commercial resorts. It's been that way for decades, and the people who ski and ride here tend to want to keep it that way.
Located on the top floor of the base lodge looking out over the mountain, the Black Line Tavern (BLT) offers a great local menu, music and drinks in a classic Vermont lodge setting. But, it is the people who make the Black Line Tavern happen and we are lucky to have a great group of locals and winter friends from all over who make it such a spirited and fun place to relax. Our goal is to create a tavern and lodge experience as welcoming, friendly and warm as our faithful skiers and riders.
Magic slopes can take the energy out of you. Refuel at the T-Bar with music, on-mountain drinks, snacks and fireside warmth. They've got all your favorite Vermont Beers & Ciders as well as their famous chili dog and other snacks. Sunsets are great at T-Bar and its the perfect spot to start aprés at Magic.
Start your morning at the Basecamp Cafe with a coffee and breakfast sandwich. Come back at lunch for tasty burgers, sandwiches and soups. This is Magic;s casual in lodge spot for refueling and hanging with friends and family.
