Ski Vermont Holds First Media Event of the 2026-27 Season in New York City

Mountain updates under the city skyline

Skiing is always on our mind—even when we’re on a Manhattan rooftop sipping cider and nibbling some sugar-on-snow.

That’s exactly how we capped the first week of October at Ski Vermont’s 2026 New York City Media Event—along with 41 journalists, content producers, and newscasters (and of course ski areas from across the state).

We hold this event each fall to kick off the start to the ski season by inviting members of the media to join us for an evening of information and fun in the hopes they’ll visit Vermont again—or for the first time.

“Our New York event is a favorite because it always ends with an unusual idea for a ski trip,” says Ski Vermont Director of Communications Bryan Rivard. “From skiing and meeting highland cows to following a spa day with maple sugaring, it’s fun to find the ski trip that fits everyone’s interests.”

The event connects media outlets and creators to ski areas who invite them to visit Vermont and relay their experiences, inspiring new people to give Vermont skiing a try.

Staff spoke briefly before ski areas highlighted updates, with Sugarbush, Jay Peak, Stowe, Magic Mountain, Mount Snow, Killington, Okemo, Pico, and Stratton offer a sneak peek at what to expect this coming season.

But it’s not a Vermont ski trip without the culture that makes it special—something on full display at the event.

“Visiting local businesses and towns in Vermont is what makes a ski trip a Vermont ski trip,” says Ski Vermont Marketing and Partnerships Manager Becca Munkelwitz. “We’ve got a lot of great partners and these events are a great opportunity to show media all Vermont has to offer.”

Guests enjoyed a range of treats from Ski Vermont’s local business partners, including tons of gear from Rossignol and Burton, socks from Darn Tough, coffee from 802 Coffee, cheese from Cabot Creamery, and more. Cold Hollow supplied cider for the event (as well as the maple syrup for the sugar-on-snow). Long Trail Brewing donated a sugaring experience package and one lucky winner walked away with an overnight stay at historic Trapp Family Lodge and Resort.
