Marking the (un)official kick off to the 2025-26 season, Ski Vermont held its annual New York City media reception in early October, bringing together ski areas, partners, and members of the media for 2025/26 season updates, trip planning, and raffle prizes (including overnight trips from both von Trapp Family Lodge and Burke Mountain).
Highlighting what makes Vermont a top winter destination—over beverages provided by partner Long Trail Brewing—the event attracted media representatives including broadcasters (MSNBC/Today Show and FOX), journalists (Ski Magazine, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Post, Business Insider), family and travel writers, and influencers and content creators from a wide range of interests.
“NYC’s media landscape lets us also bring in a lot of people to this event who aren’t skiers or snowboarders—yet,” says Ski Vermont’s Director of Communications Bryan Rivard “connecting them to a ski area that’ll turn ‘I would try’ into ‘I just did’ is something we look forward to—and hopefully their story inspires their readers and followers to do the same.”
After an introduction by President Molly Mahar and Bryan Rivard, ski areas gave brief presentations covering topics from capital investments, program updates, and in some cases, the status of the goat herd (Jay Peak’s method of ‘mowing’ in this season’s lead-up). Stowe, von Trapp Lodge and Resort, Killington, Stratton, Magic, Saskadena Six & Woodstock Inn, Okemo, Sugarbush, and Mount Snow also provided updates (information also available on our What’s New page). Kim Jackson from Ski Vermont Partner Vermont Adaptive also gave an overview of plans for 2025-26, including their new facility at Stratton Mountain.
Becca Munkelwitz, Ski Vermont’s Marketing and Partnerships Manager, capped the festivities by raffling off overnight packages to both Burke Mountain and von Trapp Family Lodge, as well as a mountain of swag from Ski Vermont partners Rossignol, Darn Tough, Birdie Bluee, Cabot, Burton, 802 Coffee, and more.
With the largest attendance in over five years, Ski Vermont’s 2025 NYC Media Reception showcases Vermont’s continued appeal as a winter getaway and the top ski destination in the east.
