Vermont Travel and Recreation Council Elects Ski Vermont President as Chair

This January the Travel and Recreation Council (TRC) unanimously elected Ski Vermont President Molly Mahar as the council’s new chair. Appointed by Governor Scott, the ten-member council TRC advises the Secretary of the Agency of Commerce and Community Development on matters relating to state travel and recreational policy.

As a representative of Vermont’s ski industry, which generates nearly $1B in direct and indirect spending each year, Mahar comes the position having served for 7 years as a TRC board member.

Per Council bylaws, the chair is elected annually from among the council’s members.

“With her legislative experience and ski industry knowledge, Molly is a natural choice for Chair of the Tourism and Recreation and Council,” says Heather Pelham, Commissioner of Tourism and Marketing. “As president of Ski Vermont she understands the economic impact of visitation to the State, and we look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts to highlight Vermont as a top recreation destination under her leadership on the Council.”
