Ski Sneak Peek of The Week: Killington

Killington

August 24, 2025

Writing an “update” on Killington is like publishing last week’s Twitter feed—they’re already on to the next thing. But I was able to double-dip and talk the winter season while experiencing some summer excitement, mountain biking with Josh and Amy on the Killington team.

Never pass up a chance to bike Killington. It’s as exciting and scenic in summer sun as it is in its winter whites—and worth the effort to see both. What you shouldn’t do is skitter into the rental shop 20 minutes late with half your pads, the wrong helmet, and a backpack full of apologies.

Two things happen then, with only one worth mentioning: you get to see the Killington rental crew in action. If the Beast runs like a German engine, that team is an F1 pit crew. They casually joked as they peeled off to corners of the gear shop and were suddenly giving me a thumbs-up through a set of closing double doors. I was fitted, kitted, and on the chairlift in 16 minutes flat (including running back to sign my waiver). And they do winter rentals too.

I was able to ride two new adaptive trails, x and x—perfect examples of how far the word “adaptive” falls from “easy”. We criss-crossed the mountain on greens and blue and stopped in the progression part to try some jumps. We even got around to talking about skiing.

Fun facts about Killington:

  • 1,000 new factor-shiny snow guns are now fully installed across Killington and Pico for the 2025/26 season. More info here.
  • The Superstar chairlift construction is on track and on time for completion (the helicopters have completed their part of the mission
  • Killington is taking a hiatus from World Cup this season due to the Superstar reconstruction—but that frees up its expanded snowmaking capacity for opening trails earlier, faster, and in greater numbers.
  • Some secret summer intel: it’s really hard to beat the lunchtime view from the golf clubhouse deck.
