Each season Ski Vermont coordinates with a member ski area to host Winter Media Day. The annual event invites members of the media, partners, and other ski areas to experience a single resort and learn about amenities, updates, and the area’s plans for the future—and there was no shortage of news at Burke Mountain Resort.
Purchased by Bear Den Partners in May of this year, Burke has had a prominent place in the news cycle this season between the improvements made by the new owners and the Olympic coverage of athletes who trained on the mountain’s slopes.

With nearly 20 attendees, the event highlighted improvements the ski area has already made (including a tripling of snowmaking capacity) and tours of the Burke Mountain Hotel, wedding venue, and exceptional skiing with areas signature panoramic views of Willoughby Gap, Jay Peak, and the White Mountain of New Hampshire.

“Media know that Vermont is the top ski destination in the east, and this event provides an opportunity to truly experience what each ski area has to offer,” says Ski Vermont Director of Communications Bryan Rivard. “Vermont skiing is about community, and that’s something I see Bear Den continue to focus on—fostering and empowering the culture that’s made this area successful. It’s exciting to think about Burke unleashing its full potential with the support of the new ownership.”

Hosting representatives from the Boston Herald, Boston.com, The Storm Skiing Podcast, and several other outlets, the two-day event offered tours of the hotel and mountain trail system, guided snowshoe excursions, and discussion of improvement on deck for the coming seasons.
