Ski Vermont attended the first day of the Discover New England (DNE) Annual Summit, hosted in Burlington by the Vermont Department of Tourism, to hear international travel market updates delivered by DNE staff, Tourism Economics, Brand USA and Expedia Group. An international media panel, informational sessions, and a welcome reception rounded out the afternoon. Mexico has supplanted Canada as the number one country for arrivals into the US. And while the geopolitical situation is the throughline across all the major markets for New England right and challenging in the short term, this business requires relationship building and significant lead time, so it remains worthwhile for destinations to stay engaged, much like the state and individual destinations have approached the Canadian markets recently. Destinations from around New England were participating in two days of events and sales meetings with international and receptive tour operators.
