Adventure is for Everyone at Vermont Ski Resorts this Summer
Adventure seekers can get their thrills in this summer when they visit one of Vermont’s resort adventure parks. Have a need for speed? Check out one of the mountain coasters or downhill mountain bike tracks. Looking for aerial thrills? Visitors can take their pick from zip lines, tree top ropes courses or bungee trampolines. Summer is calling and Vermont ski resorts have an adventure for everyone to embark on.
Okemo Mountain Resort
Rip, zip or flip at Okemo’s Adventure Zone! Highlights include the Timber Ripper Mountain Coaster where sled-like cars carry one or two riders along rails that twist through corkscrew turns, along banking loops and over rippling waves. The Haulback Challenge Course is a treetop adventure with suspended obstacles and ziplines. Sawyer’s Sweep Zipline Tour offers guided high-flying tours featuring suspension bridges, rappels, and seven zipline segments. Visitors can take a leap into a giant inflatable bag-like a movie stunt double or combine trampoline jumping with bungee-cord tethers for flips 20 feet high on the Stump Jumper Bungee Trampoline.
Smugglers’ Notch Resort
At Smugglers’ Notch Resort, ArborTrek Canopy Adventures has established an adventure hub that thrills all ages. The action takes place on the wooded mountainside where ArborTrek’s award-winning eight zip line canopy tour has been drawing visitors since 2010. Two aerial trekking courses incorporate over 90 elements such as wobbly bridges, balance beams, zip lines, rope swings, cargo nets and more connecting tree platforms anchored 3 to 25 feet above the ground. The Apple Creek course serves ages 4 and older, and the Back Forty Course is for ages 8 and older. ArborTrek’s tree climbing program blends belay technology with climbing holds, and climbers can also challenge themselves on vertical obstacles and a climbing wall incorporating multiple routes ranging from novice to expert. Smugglers’ also offers geocaching, custom rock climbing, and a Via Ferrata course blending hiking, rock climbing and high ropes adventure.
With 23 rides and attractions, Bromley has loads of summer activities for everyone. Thrills await kids and adults alike on the classic triple track Alpine Slide. The Sun Mountain Flyer, a ZipRider®, zooms at speeds up to 50mph over half a mile with a 700-foot vertical drop. Rated Best Treetop Play in New England by the Boston Globe, the Aerial Adventure Park boasts 65 elements over 5 courses for the ultimate summer family fun. And there's so much more: waterslides, mini golf, bungee trampolines and the Giant Swing, just to name a few. With free family entertainment, most weekends and yummy Sun Deck eats from burgers to salmon BLTs, Bromley is Southern Vermont's complete family fun zone.
Killington’s summer energy epicenter is the Snowshed Adventure Center, featuring 15 attractions for all ages, a full-service retail and mountain bike shop, and easy access to the Killington Golf Course, Snowshed Express Quad chairlift and adjacent mountain bike trails, plus the free weekly Cooler in the Mountains Concert Series. Facility upgrades include installation of a waterside Umbrella Bar and outdoor deck near Snowshed Pond with easy access to walking trails and the Killington Grand Resort Hotel. Attractions include the Beast Mountain Coaster, dual ziplines across Snowshed Pond, a 40’ tower jump, summer tubing lanes, a four-story ropes course and 5,000 square foot maze below it, the Roaring Brook Mining sluice, ATV/UTV tours, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, kayaking and more.
Stowe Mountain Resort
Stowe’s new experience based activities, built by the industry’s leading vendors, include Zip Lines down Mount Mansfield and a Tree Top Adventure Course at the base of the mountain. ZipTour is the world’s fastest and most exhilarating zip line experience and the ultimate point-to-point sky adventure. Take Stowe’s Gondola to the top and then Zip down three adrenaline charged spans to the bottom. Stowe’s Tree Top Adventure entails a series of over 60 aerial tree-to-tree connections and various challenges elements intertwined in the design. The guided activity is ideal for most ages and offers outstanding pre-programmed team-building facilities for groups.
Sugarbush offers several mountain activities outside of mountain biking, golf and hiking including two 18-hole disc golf courses, an 800’ zipline, bungee trampoline, kids zone, and scenic lift rides. Mountain activities open on Saturday, June 24th and run daily through Labor Day. The mountains and surrounding Mad River Valley act as their own adventure park with hiking, swimming holes, mountain bike trails and more.
