Ski Vermont Starts a Snow Redistribution Revolution in Honor of Presidents’ Day

Snow redistribution reaches Vermont - Feb 9, 2016

Vermont hasn't yet seen a "yuuuge" (in the words of Bernie Sanders) snowstorm this season but resorts have been digging deep into their toolbox and covering Vermont’s slopes with snow using their high-tech, efficient snowmaking systems. Scattered snow showers, squalls and mountain microclimates have surprised many a Vermont visitor this season with great ski and snowboard conditions and lots of open terrain, but it seems the West has thus far hogged Mother Nature's massive snow supply.

In honor of President's Day on Monday and Vermont Senator and presidential hopeful, Bernie Sanders, Ski Vermont is officially calling for a redistribution of snow.

"How much snow can the 1% really put to use?" asked Ski Vermont's Sarah Wojcik. "Doesn't it just seem fair to share the supply equally at resorts all over the country? As of today we're calling for a snow redistribution revolution and a change in conditions across the East. It's time to share the wealth and let everyone enjoy the benefits of Mother Nature's gift of snow."

Since the call to action, snowfall at Vermont resorts has been forecasted right into President's weekend and a possible “yuuuge” storm developing next week. See photos from yesterday's initial redistribution, where Vermont resorts received anywhere from 2-5 inches of fluff. A winter revolution has begun.

Skiers and riders interested in bolstering the snow redistribution revolution simply need to follow a few steps suggested by Stowe Mountain Lodge in Stowe, Vermont. Click here for further instruction.

Even with new snow in the forecast, resorts are firing up the snowmaking guns which can cover over 80% of the terrain in Vermont. Vermont ski and snowboard resorts are committed to delivering a top quality experience for visitors over the Presidents' and Valentine’s Day holidays and are sure to deliver.

Couples interested in a special, maybe non-traditional, Valentine’s Day need simply to join the snow redistribution revolution and participate in the many events and deals available at resorts on Sunday, February 14th. Families looking to enjoy the long Presidents’ weekend with fireworks and torchlight parades and the great conditions provided by the winter revolution can find great deals and events at Vermont resorts throughout the weekend and Presidents’ week.
