Resorts are Dropping Ropes
The New Year is off to a snowy start! A seasonally appropriate cold snap breezed through Vermont this week, allowing resorts to kick snowmaking into high gear and drop ropes all over the state. The amount of open terrain has tripled since this time last week, with resorts reporting over 400 trails open across the state, plus more resorts are opening this weekend. That’s great news for all the diehards who’ve been chomping at the bit for more terrain to explore and also great news for the newbies hitting the slopes for the first time this month, taking advantage of new beginner programs. Make sure to tell your friends and family about our Learn To Turn programs, designed specifically for those wishing to learn to ski and snowboard, and for those interested in learning how to cross country ski, Winter Trails Daytakes place this Saturday.

Keep an eye on the trail count as it grows at

Lift Ticket Giveaway
Each week in January, Ski Vermont is giving away lift tickets to our biggest fans and followers on social media. Now that the season is in full swing, we want to see how you’re spending your time on the slopes. All you have to do to enter to win is tag photos of yourself or your friends and family enjoying the snow at open alpine and Nordic resorts in Vermont. Tag them with #SkiVermont #FreeLiftTickets and the name of the resort pictured. We’ll choose our favorites each week from FacebookTwitter, or Instagram.

We sent each of this week’s winners a 4-pack of day passes to a resort of their choice. So get outside and start snapping!
Partner Prizes
We’re collaborating with our partners this season to bring you a new contest each month. We gave away a huge Rossignol package in December and this month I’m pleased to announce our next winner. David B. from North Granby, CT will be covered head to toe with a pair of cozy hats from Skida Headwear, two pairs of Darn Tough ski socks and a ski and stay trip for two at Bolton Valley. David is sharing the prize with his wife and will enjoy the ski trip with his whole family, who will meet him there.

“I am very excited to show my wife Bolton Valley. I have skied Bolton many times with local friends and I love the terrain and the fact they are open to ski into the night as well. Another very rare and different aspect is the wind turbine at the top. I embrace the idea of using wind to create energy plus the sound it makes is so cool.” David’s family has Vermont ties as his grandkids learned to ski at Cochran’s Ski Area, just down the road from Bolton Valley in Richmond, Vermont. “The girls are ready to rip this season! Let it snow!”

Next month’s drawing will be for a Rondane sweater from Dale of Norway - the official sweater of Ski Vermont (check out the whole team rocking our new sweaters here). The Rondane Sweater, made with a 100% skinsoft super fine Merino, features a pattern that was inspired by the St. Moritz Championship sweater. The 1/4 zip Rondane Sweater is available in men's and women's sizes and colors and can easily be worn as a first or second layer.
