The Fall Line: Winter Weather is Coming, January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month, Enter our Monthly Prize Package Giveaway

Sunshine and snow at Stowe Mountain Resort this week.

Patience is a Virtue

Whoever said that “patience is a virtue” was obviously not a skier because we don’t sit around waiting for it to snow, we make it snow.

By this point in the season, we skiers and snowboarders are pretty much over the spring-like weather – by jeezum, we’re ready for the cold already! – but we’ve been pretty stoked to shred the spring-like snow conditions. Since Thanksgiving week, we’ve seen ever growing bases on key trails across Vermont thanks to the crews of hardworking, dedicated, awesome heroes who are poised to pull the trigger every time the temps drop low enough to make it snow. Many thanks to our snow makers who are responsible for the top to bottom coverage found at our open mountains.

Follow their progress at www.skivermont.com/conditions for up to the minute trail counts at all the open resorts in Vermont then check back again when Old Man Winter makes his big debut in the coming days and weeks. Let’s think, pray, and dance for snow because with winter’s official arrival on December 21st comes a dip in temperatures and snow in the extended forecast for Christmas.

Let it SNOW! Not so patiently awaiting the flakes in this Christmas week future-cast.

Learn a New Sport this January

Vermont resorts offer many fun programs to help your friends and family find their ski and snowboard legs on beginner terrain so they can safely and quickly advance and enjoy the slopes together. It’s always a good idea to take a lesson with a trained professional when learning a new sport and, starting in the month of January, we have some great Learn-to-Turn programs available to help start your New Year off in the right boot.

January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month nationwide and Vermont resorts are in on the action. For just $49, beginners get rental gear, a lift ticket to access beginner terrain, and a lesson with a certified instructor during non-holiday periods in January. This program isn’t just for folks who have never slid on snow before, you can also try a new sport in a safe and encouraging environment. Visit skivermont.com for details and to reserve your lesson package before they sell out. While you're there, be sure to check out the Bring a Friend challenge and incentives which also begin in January, and the World’s Largest Lesson Guinness Book of Records event on January 8th. Find all the info you need to join the fun at www.skivermont.com/learn
