Summer Is Festival Time at Jay Peak Resort

While Jay Peak Resort in northern Vermont has gotten a lot of attention in recent years for expanding its amenities--water park, more hotels, conference center, ice rink--anyone who likes having fun in the mountains should also check out Jay's new Stateside Amphitheater. Built into a slope at the base of the Stateside side of the mountain, the Stateside Amphitheater is a 1,500-person outdoor music venue that offers seats under a pavilion cover as well as open-air lawn seating.

Sometimes the best seats in the house aren't seats at all

Only in its second summer of fun, the Stateside Amphitheater has been getting plenty of use, playing host to Jay's Jeezum Crow Festival as well as big names like Lyle Lovett and Widespread Panic. In 2014, Jay Peak christened the new amphitheater with the first-annual Jeezum Crow Fest, which was held again in July 2015. There, Jay welcomed back Lukas and Micah Nelson (Willie Nelson's sons and killer rockers in their own right), and brought Grateful Dead cover band Dark Star Orchestra as headliners for both nights of the two-day festival. Jeezum has the best of the bohemian festival-party world and ski resort comfort--with a colorful and entertaining parking lot scene, danceable, groovin' tunes; and clean restrooms and a full bar in the Stateside Base Lodge.

Coming up on Sept.12, Jay welcomes Strangefolk to the Stateside Amphitheater for the first time. Crowd favorites from the '90s and early 2000s festival scene, the band took a many-year break, but are back for their fans. Tickets are reasonably priced: $35 for premium seating and $25 for lawn. If you haven't yet caught a show at the Stateside Amphitheater, here's the perfect chance. As always, Jay offers lodging deals, so you can make a full, fun weekend out of your visit to the Northeast Kingdom. Tickets are now on sale at
