Ski Vermont Announces Check In to Win Vertical Challenge Winner

Ski Vermont Vertical Challenge Winner!

Ski Vermont is excited to announce the winner of this season’s Vertical Challenge, the second competition stemming from Ski Vermont’s Check In to Win program. Ron Weiss from Albany, New York logged almost two million vertical feet snowboarding at Killington Resort in an impressive 85 days on the hill this season. He wins a two night ski and stay package to a Jay Peak Resort and ultimate bragging rights.

“I have a total of 152 days this season so far. I say so far because I am still going to Killington everyday they are open – Friday through Sunday until the snow is gone,” said winner Ron Weiss. “This is a normal season for me.” Ron is still racking up the vertical feet and going for 3.5 million before the season comes to an end.

His partner, Lisa, shares Ron’s dedication to winter sports. “The key to getting so may days is going no matter what,” said Lisa, citing they are fortunate for the protection that Killington’s gondolas provide in adverse weather situations. Killington’s Superstar trail had a depth of 30 feet at the end of April and plans on spinning the Superstar Express Quad into June.

2014-15 marked the third season for Ski Vermont’s Check In to Win program. Now in its sophomore year working with Trace Snow, more than 9,100 skiers and snowboarders joined the challenge, competing to see who could rack up the most vertical feet on Vermont slopes from January 15 through April 30, 2015. Dedicated snow sliders logged their days at Vermont’s 20 alpine resorts with the Trace application and vied for a chance to win a ski and stay package for next season.

Ski Vermont also celebrated the first Check In to Win champion this season. Jayne Johnson of Milford, New Hampshire skied and checked in at all 19 alpine resorts in Vermont and won a pair of skis from Rossignol. Read more about her adventures at skivermont.com.
