Vermont Hosts Powder Parade, Join us on the Float: The Fall Line, 2/19/15

Mount Snow Resort was Blanketed in Fresh Pow this Month
The first weeks of February saw a parade of snow storms pass through the region leaving behind up to five feet of snow on Vermont’s slopes already this month. More snow is on the way tonight into tomorrow morning, with a sun break and warmer temperatures on Saturday before another blast of up to 9” of new snow is expected to hit on Saturday night. The skiing and riding conditions in Vermont have never been better as powder stashes abound across all of Vermont’s ski areas. Right now is the best time to be skiing and riding in Vermont. This is going to be one of the snowiest Februaries on record in the state so be sure to get up here and get in on it for yourself.
While you’re out enjoying the conditions on your powder skis, make sure to check out the FAT Ski-A-Thon for a fun way to support injured shredders who are getting back onto the snow. On Sunday, March 1st, Mount Ellen at Sugarbush Resort will host the 4th Annual FAT Ski-A-Thon from 8:00am-4:00pm benefiting the High Fives Non-Profit Foundation. Participants complete as many laps on the Summit Quad lift as possible on skis built for powder conditions known as “fat” skis with a waist of 70 millimeters or wider. Participants raise money for each completed lap and gather flat donations with proceeds going to the High Fives Foundation to support the dreams of mountain action sports athletes recovering from life-altering injuries.

The event kicks off Saturday night, February 28th, at the Local Folks FAT SKI Pre-Party presented by Vermont North Ski Shops with drink specials and mouthwatering BBQ at the Local Folk Smokehouse. Live music from the Mad Mountain Scramblers and sweet raffle prizes will keep you pumped throughout the evening. You can also pre-register for the next day's event and pick up your swag and punch-cards for the ski-a-thon. Tickets at the door cost $5 for all non-ski-a-thon participants.

Register for the ski-a-thon, make a pledge, and find event details here.

If all this powder is distracting you, focus up and join in on the SnoQuest ski and snowboard game for a shot at some cold hard cash. Participation is free to join in this treasure and scavenger hunt, where you’ll follow a series of clues and brainteasers as you hit the slopes at resorts in Vermont. The grand prize is $1,000 dollars cash plus there are lots of great prizes and swag to be won along the way. Visit the contest page to get started then visit one of our participating ski areas from February 27th through March 1st: Bolton Valley Resort and the Bolton Valley Nordic Center, Mad River Glen and General Stark Mountain nature trails, Morse Farm Ski Touring Center, and Northeast Slopes.
