Even Santa gets on the slopes at Bolton Valley
Spring time brings pond skimming, or sinking at Stratton Mountain Resort

From watching the World Cup over Thanksgiving weekend to pond skimming in the spring, Ski Vermont has compiled all of the mountain happenings this season below:

November 2016

November 26-27, 2016
Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup
Killington Resort, Superstar (K-1 base area)
World Cup ski racing returns to the Eastern US for the first time in 25 years as the fastest female alpine racers in the world converge on Killington’s Superstar trail over Thanksgiving weekend. Free public access is available, with about 50% of the trail visible from the base area, plus top-to-bottom coverage on a wall of screens – the atmosphere will be electric.

Rails 2 Riches
Killington Resort, Highline (K-1 base area)
The East Coast’s most lucrative rail jam gets freestyle ski and snowboard hype peaking early in the season. With an outrageous custom build from the Killington Parks team every year, all eyes are on R2R as competitors set the tone for the winter ahead. The Prize Purse for Rails to Riches is $25,000!

Smugglers’ popular BrewFest bookends the ski and ride season in the winter and spring, with local and regional beers for sampling, music, food, prizes and a souvenir glass.

Holiday Artisan Craft Show
Stowe Mountain Resort, Spruce Peak Village Center
Join Stowe Mountain Resort in their new Pavilion Building in the Spruce Peak Village Center for a pre-holiday shopping extravaganza with local craft artisans. Many of Vermont's finest artisan craft vendors will be under one roof to showcase their unique products. Free photos with Santa for the kiddos will be available as well as skating with Santa.

Midnight arrives early for friends and family enjoying an assortment of activities such as ice skating, snow tubing, snowshoeing, mountain coaster rides, horse-drawn wagon rides, cookie decorating, bingo, trivia, a DJ dance party and more. Party games, balloons, noisemakers and fireworks add to the celebration, complete with a pizza party dinner in the Roundhouse at Jackson Gore.

Skiers and snowboarders of all ages take to the slopes for 24 hours as individuals and teams, vy for the most vertical feet skied and raise funds for the Stratton Foundation.

Nordic Rendezvous at Rikert and Back to the Barn Tour

Spend the afternoon touring the Rikert Nordic Center trails on skis, snowshoes or fat bikes and then meet back at the historic Bread Loaf Barn to relax by the fire with a warming drink. This 24-hour race will put endurance to the test as skiers compete on a loop that will have them skinning up through the Bolton Backcountry and skiing back down.

This year's Fisk Trophy slalom race, the 80th consecutive running of the event, proves to be the embodiment of why ski racing is so easy to love. The race has been in existence since 1937 and is the oldest alpine trophy race in North America.

Light the Night Rail Jam

Okemo lights up the snow for skiers and riders of all ages with $5,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs. A new rail garden constructed specifically for this event will give skiers and riders an optimal venue for showing off their best moves.

A 25 or 50 kilometer race in which racers ski a winding 12.5 kilometer loop on our scenic trails and later enjoy an after party and awards ceremony.

The Vermont Open invites snowboarders of all ages to compete in Vermont’s only open snowboarding competition, set to challenge athletes with features such as a retro pipe, slopestyle course and a rail jam. Live music will entertain and village vendors will adorn the resort for this VT Chamber of Commerce Top 10 Event.

Combine the award-winning Sugarbush PARKS and slalom racing for one of the hottest new spots around. Competitors ride a course consisting of tabletops, berms, rollers, and other various snow elements while navigating gates. A cash purse and prizes will be awarded to top competitors.

Carinthia's acclaimed park builders construct a one-of-a-kind, plaza-style setup loaded with rails, boxes and a whole arsenal of unique features. Athletes will need to choose their line carefully so they can go big, get technical and flex their style, in the hope of walking away with a chunk of the cash purse for pros, or new gear from event sponsors for the amateurs, in this jam-style format competition.

Bud Light Reggaefest once again returns to Mount Snow for what has become a weekend of fantastic live Reggae music and events on the mountain! The weekend features live music from national-touring bands, as well as a party out in the Base Area on Saturday and Sunday. Plus, check out Sink or Skim, our annual pond skimming competition on Saturday and the Duct Tape Derby on Sunday.

Bump skiers take on the East’s longest, steepest mogul trail, Outer Limits, pushing themselves for the ultimate bragging right, their name on the BMMC Trophy. It’s a serious race that’s also one serious party, highlighting the nor’beaster spring season at Killington.
