LUDLOW, Vt. – On Saturday, December 26, during the darkest days of winter when daylight hours are at their shortest, Okemo Mountain Resort will light up the slopes and the skies with an evening of fiery family fun.
Children ages 4 to 14 can participate in their own on-snow Light Parade in Okemo’s Clock Tower base area. Kids will ride the F-10 Carpet lift and ski down Mountain Road with glow lights provided at registration. Participants, level 4 or above, will meet in the Clock Tower Base Area SnowStars Center at 6:30 p.m. for check in and pre-parade group activities. Skiing will take place from 7 to 7:30 p.m. with child pick-up at the base of the F-10 Carpet. The fee is $15 per child.
Following the Children’s Light Parade, Okemo’s traditional Torchlight Parade and Fireworks Display will commence. A spectacular pyrotechnics show will follow a torchlight parade of Okemo staff members snaking their way down Okemo's Open Slope trail. Admission is free and open to the public.
A complimentary guided snowshoe hike will offer a bird’s eye view of the festivities. Participants should plan to meet inside the Okemo Rental Center at 6 p.m. to be fitted for snowshoes. Rentals are $15. The tour, free for those with their own snowshoes, departs from the Clock Tower base area at 7 p.m. and climbs the Bull Run trail. Space is limited and the snowshoe tour is first-come-first-served, with reservations recommended. Call (802) 228-1558.
