LUDLOW, Vt. – Okemo Mountain Resort opened for the 2015/2016 winter season on Tuesday, November 24. Okemo opened with top-to-bottom skiing and snowboarding on five trails with three lifts operating – including the Resort's Sunburst Six high-speed bubble chair with retractable orange domes and heated seats for six passengers at a time.

"In spite of unseasonably warm temperatures this year, our snowmakers have made the most of every opportunity and we opened with top-to-bottom skiing and riding for the third year running," said Okemo Vice President and General Manager Bruce Schmidt. "This achievement is a testimony to the hard work of our operations team and to the Mueller family's commitment to its loyal guests."

Snowmaking started at Okemo on November 14, but warm temperatures prevented Okemo's snowmakers from working consecutive days and nights until recently. Snowmaking efforts are ongoing and continuing whenever the temperatures allow. Okemo anticipates having more terrain open in the days ahead and will add more trails to its open lineup as soon as conditions allow and Ski Patrol deems it safe.

Terrain park features are being installed on Nor'easter temporarily until terrain park trails can be covered with snow.
