Mount Snow’s Earliest Opening Ever Draws Enthusiastic Crowd
Mount Snow Resort’s earliest opening date ever was met with an unprecedented level of excitement on the morning of Oct. 27.
“Hundreds of people were lined up before the lifts started spinning on Saturday,” said Jamie Storrs, Communications Manager at Mount Snow. “That showed the pent-up desire of skiers and riders to get back out there.”
The Canyon Express and Challenger lifts provided service to five open trails – Cascade, Canyon, High Traverse, Freefall and River Run – including top-to-bottom skiing. Thousands of skiers and snowboarders turned out over the course of the weekend.
Storrs said it was the earliest opening date in Mount Snow’s 64-year history.
“The whole thing is a testament to the $30 million snowmaking upgrade we did as part of our West lake Water Project,” Storrs said. “It doubled our capacity to make snow and gave us the most powerful snowmaking system in the Northeast.”
Following its historic opening weekend, Mount Snow closed during the week with plans to reopen on Saturday, Nov. 3.
