KILLINGTON – Continuing its tradition of being the first Vermont ski area to open for the season, Killington Resort welcomed Season Pass and Express card holders for skiing and snowboarding on Friday, Oct. 19.

The K-1 Express Gondola and North Ridge Triple chair began loading at 10 a.m., granting access to open terrain on East Fall, Rime and Reason. Hundreds of skiers and snowboarders enjoyed picture-perfect weather, a bluebird day with the mercury creeping just above 40 degrees.

Killington was set to open to the general public beginning Saturday, Oct. 20, with plans to operate on a daily basis as weather permits.

Open terrain is rated for intermediate and above level skiers and riders only. No beginner terrain will be available, and snowmaking will take place as temperatures allow.
