Fall Foliage and Scenic Lift Rides

Vermont is home to some of the most impressive foliage displays in the world. There is no better place to experience these views than from the top of the Green Mountains. Whether you hike or ride the lift, the scenery at the top is second to none. Many of Vermont's ski areas offer chairlift rides and others offer hiking and mountain biking. Whatever your pleasure, you can find it in Vermont. Below are some of the ski areas that offer scenic chair lift rides.

Bromley Mountain

Catch breathtaking views from the top of the Sun Mountain. Leaf peeping in Vermont is some of the best in the nation, and Bromley's southern facing slope provides longer sun exposure for beautiful sunset views. You can keep track of autumn's progression by viewing Bromley's Mountain Cam to help plan your trip. The Mountain Adventure Center is now open on weekends only, you can puchase tickets at Bromley.com.

Please make sure to review the cross-state travel information before booking your trip. Visit Vermont.gov/covid for all travel rules and regulations.

Visit Bromley.com for all things Bromley.

Killington Resort

Enjoy a mile and a quarter ride up the K-1 Express Gondola to the top of 4,241-foot Killington Peak for breathtaking views, access to 15 miles of designated hiking trails in addition to the Appalachian and Long Trails and the Peak Lodge featuring a custom menu and fresh local fare.

Tickets can be purchased/picked up at the K-1 Base Area (no other services available) or Snowshed Lodge. Ticketing at K-1 for this summer is located adjacent to the gondola, on the cement pad used for winter loading. Please check the summer operating schedule for planned dates and hours of operation.

Visit Killington.com for all fall foliage information and travel guidelines.

Mount Snow Resort

Take a scenic ride on the Bluebird Express to the summit of Mount Snow! The Bluebird Express is open select days from June through October. Take in the beautiful surrounding views with highlights including Somerset Reservoir, Mount Monadnock, and sometimes even Mount Washington!

Lift tickets are available at the Clocktower ticket window.

Mad River Glen

After a brief spell of warm temperatures we’re back into more fall-like weather with cool days and chilly nights. In just a couple of short weeks, beginning on September 26th & 27th we will fire up Old Faithful, America’s favorite Single Chair for foliage rides! You can pre-purchase your foliage ride tickets online to help us cut down on contact points and lines at the ticket booth. Tickets will also be available to purchase on-site but we encourage folks who know that they’ll be coming up to buy online in advance. Join us in our classic fall celebration, the General Store and Ticket Booth will open at 9:30AM followed by lift rides at 10AM and we’ll be serving food outside starting at 11AM. A full schedule of services is available by visiting our event calendar, stay tuned for more details as we draw closer to fall!

Vermont is currently restricting who can travel into the state of Vermont and visit as part of its COVID-19 response plan. Click the link below to visit the State of Vermont website to determine if you are eligible to travel to Vermont. Given the nature of the requirements, we are unable to verify if visitors to the ski area meet the requirements but we urge you to do the right thing and not travel to Vermont or Mad River Glen if you don’t meet the requirements for the health and safety of our staff, community and fellow visitors.
